The College Board provided answers and solutions to over 300
financial aid professionals at the 12th annual PowerFAIDS
User Conference in Washington, D.C. in July. Institutions
from the College Board's six regions came together in the
nation's capital to attend one of the aid industry’s most
talked about event.
Conference Overview
The two-day event featured a broad range of topics on
Student Aid Management, including sessions led by
experienced PowerFAIDS
users, who shared their successes with the program in
Automating Student Financial Aid.
In addition to the 33 software sessions focusing on PowerFAIDS and Net Partner, participants learned about
Effective E-mail Communications from Leslie O’Flahavan, a
co-founder and partner in E-Write, and received an update
from Tom Rudin, Senior Vice President for Advocacy and
Government Relations and Development in the College Board
Washington, D.C. office. A Department of Education
representative also presented an update on Federal Student
Aid highlighting changes to the COD system in response to
the Higher Education Reconciliation Act of 2005.
To ensure continued access to subject matter experts and
provide conference participants with plenty of opportunities
to exchange information, the conference also featured a PC
Lab and offered several social events. These events provided
added opportunities for participants to network and share
experiences with their colleagues.
PowerFAIDS Summer Camp
The PowerFAIDS Summer Camp also was a smashing success. The
one-day camp provided 20 of our newest users with an
introductory overview of PowerFAIDS system capabilities and
an opportunity to make contacts with fellow PowerFAIDS users
in advance of the conference.
